Lessons and Rates

Basic Lesson Information
I offer lessons of 3 lengths:
30 minutes, 45 minutes, and 60 minutes

Beginners should start with lessons that are 30 minutes long; more advanced students should consult me about the length of lessons that are best for their needs.

I strongly advise that younger students under the age of 7 come and observe lessons to help gauge whether or not they are ready to start music lessons. If we decide they are, it is best if the parent takes violin lessons separately from the child for 6 weeks. This allows the parent to serve as a “home teacher” to his or her child during the week, and will aid the overall musical development of the child.

Teaching Methods

I teach primarily using the Suzuki method. For more information, please refer to this website: About the Suzuki Method. I also use Paul Rolland’s Strings in Action, New Directions for Strings, and the Royal Conservatory curriculum.

As mentioned in my biography, I have completed both units 1 and 2 of Michiko Yurko’s Music Mind Games. This innovative method teaches children to read music and the basic tenants of music theory through over 100 fun and accessible games.

Acquiring an Instrument
Please wait until speaking with me before purchasing or renting an instrument. I will size you or your child properly and direct you towards where to rent or purchase a violin or viola.

Please contact me for rates and scheduling. (Payment is done monthly.)
